Travis Hagen was born July 13, 1988, an innocuous start to someone so special. At least I like to think so, but then again I am not the most reliable narrator. Travis was born in Reno, Nevada, home to Hot August Nights, World Championship Air Races, and cheap divorces. What more could a man ask for?
After a brief respite in secondary education, earning such distinctions as valedictorian and math-whiz extraordinaire, Travis enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno. After looking through any number of majors, seeking a degree that would lead to varied, dynamic, and world-changing work, Travis settled on Mechanical Engineering. Such a topic integrated Travis' skill and interest in mathematics and physics with practical applications, applying academic theory to solve profound problems and improve the human condition.
Alas, this was not enough! Travis needed more, and thus sought to learn more math, and pursue a minor in the topic. This additional work proved to be quite useful in solving many engineering problems, since by leaning more math, more complicated dynamic systems could be solved easier.
Again, this was not enough, even with the knowledge of how the math works, the old pen and paper was simply not adept at solving complicated systems. Thus, computers had to be brought in, so Travis picked up a hobby. Dabbling in C++, C#, and Python, Travis was able to apply knowledge learned in courses to very large problems that would prove unwieldy without a computer. This developed into a strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
This understanding let Travis get into the world of web design, a would-be hobby changed into a professional interest. By applying his programming knowledge, Travis picked up PHP and began developing online application. These utilized an object-oriented architecture and interfaced with a MySQL database to pull, change, and remove data dynamically. Naturally, these applications were developed around XHTML and CSS layouts that conformed to the strict standards of the World Wide Web Consortium.
Upon graduation, Travis seeks to take all of these skills, bring them together, and redirect them all toward the initial goal of helping people. Be it using some novel mathematical model to solve an engineering problem, or creating a web interface to help others collaborate towards a group solution, Travis seeks to apply himself to bring about innovations that further not just himself, but everyone.
